Bitchin' and morels

Have you ever had so much to say and you don't know where to start? I know I must stop bitching at work. No matter how stupid things are or how stupid people are, for that matter. Or lazy. I think the lazy part really drives me crazy. I'm determined to stick it out in the blue collar job (first one and what a shock!) because I love the idea of hopping on a plane and flying for free. The talk did go well with my boss regarding the sexism from him. He even admitted to being a chauvinist 25 years ago but claims he's a changed man. (I've got news for him--he's still one.). Anyway, he apologized and has been much better recently. I'm sure his boss informed him that his behavior was totally illegal and he could lose him job over it. He has stopped yelling at us, too. I'm still mostly in the back loading the bags and tagging the planeside bags, but at least my biceps are looking hot! I'm happiest at the counter interacting with the public. I guess 17 years of direct patient care prepares one for dealing with people. I actually love the face to face part of the job. My wish is that someone will recognize my skill in that part and put it to work. Seriously, how hard is it to be nice to people?

As you can see from the pictures, we have some morels mushrooms nearby. My husband found these on the farm across the road. I think he found them at the base of an apple tree. They were good, too. Very earthy. The worst part is getting rid of the little bugs in them. That's some protein I can do without!

I should stop writing now. My parents are coming tomorrow and this house is a wreck. They are coming up for my son's 7th birthday on Saturday. Such a fun age my kids are now.

Bloomin' spring!

Spring has arrived on the farm. It has taken a long time. The birds are out and the trees are blooming. We also have some lilacs but they make me sneeze a lot! Pete even planted a few grape plants.

We had to get a new septic tank. Not fun. This house needs a lot of stuff done to it. I can't wait to build our dream house up the hill behind us. I don't want anything fancy, but it would be nice to have a little more space per room.

More pictures later as more things bloom.

My son finally had a game tonight. It wasn't raining, but the field was sloppy wet. And it was really chilly out there. This spring is sucking wind as far as I am concerned. I need some sunshine because my mood is horrible. I've been in a funk for a few days and the sun better come out soon. But, one of the moms at soccer mentioned that she got a dog when her husband walked out on her last year. Nothing like that to make one realize that it can always be worse.

Actually, today I felt a little better in the afternoon because my husband and I spent some time together today. Oh, not a romantic day but that's OK. He took off today because we thought we were going to be replacing the septic tank (we will later on when the ground dries a bit), but instead we did some handy stuff around the house. He asked me if I wanted to go to Lowe's with him. Of course I didn't want to go to Lowe's but I did anyway. It was fun hanging out with him midweek. Oh, but I can't stand Lowe's. Ugh. Maybe it would be fun if I could spend money like crazy and re-do a bunch of stuff in the crap farmhouse we live in. (Gosh, I'm so negative.)

I think that explains some of my mood. This house gets to me. There isn't enough closet space and I feel like we are in a hotel room. Sigh. I keep hoping and praying that we can start building one of these days. I don't want a huge house, just a house with some nice big rooms and plenty of storage space! Oh, and I want the kids to have their rooms on the second floor. Really, is that too much? Oh and I want a master bathroom again, too!

Last week was rough. I had surgery to see if I had breast cancer and I had a chat with my boss regarding some things at work. On Friday I found out I did not have cancer and the talk with my boss went extremely well. I'm hopeful he has learned from this. Only time will tell.

And today we hear that Osama is dead. I hope this takes some of the steam out of Al Qaeda. Let's hope some troops can get out of the middle east and come home.

I'm now waiting for some kids to come over for the day. I hope I survive this day. :)
