Skype--Just hype?
We started using skype for our long distance. We have a friend who lives in Taiwan and uses it. He loves it. I was wondering if anyone else could give me some insight on the subject. Like, do I have to buy their equipment (headphones, etc.) or can I use my own? It seems like my end cuts out or comes in and out. Does that happen to anyone else? And today a call was dropped but I was calling my mom's phone, not her computer. I was just wondering if anybody has the same problems.

We've been using skype for about two years now. For any landline calls and computer to computer. 90% of the time it worked specially well, but we have broadband internet. Martin's parents have a phone-line connection, and then it becomes a little difficult.
You definitely don't have to buy any of their equipment, we use our cheap/own stuff. We always call our grandparents in the US and about an hour will cost a bit more than a euro.
And it is good for chatting. If you have it, you can add me as a friend. My name is katrin or katrinharv. I'm not so sure. ;)
I've never used it before. I've heard good and bad things about it.
