For those of us that grew up west of the Mississippi river, the arch on the banks of the river in St. Louis, Missouri, is a great thing to see. It means that you are 'almost' home. The beginning of the Ozarks is not far away and things will start to seem a little more familiar.
Our journey started in central Pennsylvania, then West Virginia (briefly), then Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri and finally Arkansas.

I've seen the arch one time, when my bf and I were driving to our new home in Kansas. It was an awesome sight to see. Spike, one of my cats even got excited!
